About Us

Ensuring outdoor education is as safe, fun and active as possible.

OAE is a company run by two highly qualified Outdoor Education practitioners with a combined 40 years experience. We have spent our  work life and pass time  delivering Outdoor Education and learning inside and outside the classroom.

Due to our agreed delivery, ethos & ability to ensure outstanding outcomes we decided to unite our qualities and open OAE. 

We have delivered programmes for small independent groups even 1:1 experiences all the way up to delivering residential visit is for groups over 450 people. 

We are currently  developing a new product to us which is very exciting. Skipton Camp is to be a school holiday programme which will run each school holiday.

David

A qualified Teacher who has an extensive background working for a well-regarded Outdoor Education Centre. during in which delivered a wide range of experience for schools and young people. Following this he moved into teaching and worked for Bradford Local Authority as an Outdoor Education Adviser supporting schools deliver educational visits in a safe and curriculum enhancing way.

Mick Ellerton

Mick

Mick is an experienced outdoor educator who started his career in Australia before moving to the Yorkshire Dales. An experienced and professional outdoor and adventurous activities instructor, educator, manager, and technical advisor, Mick has achieved a range of qualifications throughout his career.

Mick worked with all the children in our school and tailored the activities appropriately for all the age groups, devising a programme of events for the Summer Term. KS1 participated in team building activities and Archery which they loved and it was great to see them working collaboratively to solve problems together. KS2 participated in team building activities and orienteering off-site which was extremely well organised and great fun! Our Year 6s were very lucky to have 3 full adventure days where we walked up Whernside, went Dry Ghyll Scrambling and Orienteering, finishing off with Archery on the final day! It was a lovely end to the year and Mick's expertise and approachable nature ensured all the children had an amazing experience which I am sure they will never forget.
